Officials Find Body Of Man Reported Missing At Stinson Beach

The 34-year old was swimming with friends when he went missing Tuesday night, officials said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Lifeguards on patrol this morning recovered the body of a Marin City man, identified as Tony Carnill Foster, Jr., 34, who went missing Tuesday evening while swimming at Stinson Beach, according to authorities.

The victim was found at 7:30 a.m. in the surf line at the north end of Stinson, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said. Foster, who was swimming at the south end with companions Tuesday, was last seen approximately 60 yards off shore "struggling in the surf," and was reported "missing and lost at sea" at 6:40 p.m., the department said.

A multiple-agency search with helicopters, watercraft and rescue swimmers began that lasted until dark with assistance from the California Highway Patrol, U.S. Park rangers and lifeguards, the Stinson Beach Volunteer and the Marin County fire departments, U.S. Coast Guard and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, Marin deputies said.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Friday to determine the official cause of death.
