MARIN COUNTY, CA – Authorities are investigating the discovery of possible human remains found last week in Marin County. They were discovered by hikers March 2 on federal land, in the Marin Headlands area near the Golden Gate Bridge, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office-Coroner Division.

The National Park Service contacted the coroner's division after the discovery was made.

The "skeletonized" remains, which appear to be of human origin, were found in an open space area commonly inhabited by transients, according to officials. Foul play is not suspected.
