Salmon Restoration, Muir Woods Bridge Replacement Topics Of Park Service Meeting Tuesday
The meeting is happening at the Tamalpais Valley Community Center.

MILL VALLEY, CA – The National Park Service is holding a community meeting on Tuesday evening in Mill Valley on salmon habitat enhancement and bridge replacement plans at Muir Woods National Monument.
The restoration of Redwood Creek, where Coho salmon numbers are declining, entails removing large boulders called riprap that were used to stabilize creek banks 80 years ago. Large woody debris will be installed in the creek after the boulders are removed. Both measures will help young fish survive.
Four aging pedestrian bridges will also be replaced by new ones made of more durable materials to provide accessible creek crossings, improve public safety and enhance water flow.
