Smoke From Agricultural Burns Blow Into Bay Area

Winds have moved smoke from agricultural burning in the Sacramento Valley into the Bay Area, air district officials said.

BAY AREA, CA – Smoke from agricultural burning will cause elevated levels of small particles in the air in the Bay Area today, with air pollution and hazy skies, air quality officials said.

Northerly winds have moved smoke from agricultural burning in the Sacramento Valley into the Bay Area, according to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Air quality isn't expected to exceed federal health standards, air quality officials said. However, people who are susceptible to higher levels of pollution such as children, seniors and those with respiratory illnesses should avoid exposure.

No agricultural burning is allowed in the Bay Area today. Air quality should improve somewhat as the temperature inversion over the region begins to weaken and smoke disperses, the district said.

Today is expected to be sunny, with high temperatures around 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Skies should be mostly clear tonight, with high temperatures around 51 degrees, according to the weather service. Saturday is expected to be sunny, with highs around 67 degrees during the day and lows around 50
degrees at night.

Sunday should be sunny, with highs around 64 degrees, with partly cloudy skies Sunday night and lows of 48 degrees, the weather service said.
