3 People Displaced By South Bay Fire

The 2-alarm fire was reported before 5 a.m. Tuesday.

SAN JOSE, CA — Fire crews have knocked down a two-alarm fire at a home near downtown San Jose early this morning, according to fire officials.

The blaze, located at a Victorian structure in the 200 block of North Ninth Street, was first reported around 4:43 a.m. A second alarm was called in at 4:51 a.m. and was stopped from spreading to other structures at
5:15 a.m., according to San Jose Fire Capt. Mitch Matlow.

A second-floor balcony at the rear of the home became compromised and unusable for firefighters battling the blaze, Matlow said.

Three residents have been displaced and as of 6 a.m. They are seeking assistance from the Red Cross.

Matlow said there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
