Armed Suspects Allegedly Hit Milpitas Police Car Trying to Escape

A Milpitas Police Officer investigating a suspicious vehicle parked at the Extended Stay America Hotel on Hillview Court Monday ending up arresting the couple inside the vehicle.

According to police, Christina Rose Cunniff was sleeping in the driver’s seat of a silver Lexus and Jeremy James Castro was sleeping in the passenger seat. As officers attempted to awaken the suspects, they saw a firearm in plain view on the right front floorboard of the vehicle, according to police.

Both suspects refused to unlock and open the vehicle doors per the officer’s commands. Cunniff started the Lexus and reversed the vehicle, striking a marked police vehicle, in what appeared to be a maneuver to escape. They didn’t get away.

When officers finally got the suspects out of the car, a search of the vehicle uncovered 14 grams of crack cocaine, 1 gram of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and stolen property from other jurisdictions. The loaded revolver spotted earlier was also recovered.

Jeremy Castro was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and a warrant for violating his Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). Cristina Cunniff was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, and possession of crack cocaine for sale.
