Powerful WCAL opponent too much for Trojans in CCS playoff opener
The Milpitas High baseball team fell 8-1 to Archbishop Mitty Prep in a 2011 Central Coast Section first round playoff game Wednesday afternoon in San Jose.
Mitty (25-5-1), a perennial West Catholic Athletic League power and No. 2 seed in the loaded Division I bracket, proved to be too much for the Trojans on this day, earning a convincing win to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal round.
Milpitas (17-8-1), finished in a tie for second place in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League with Monta Vista High-Cupertino.
