BASEBALL/SOFTBALL UPDATE: Milpitas Teams Enjoy Spring Break Before Stretch Run
Both Trojans teams in the mix for El Camino title; key games ahead next week.
Spring break is one of those weeks that always ends up highlighted on the calendar. For the Milpitas High baseball team, the break could have waited another week or two.
Red-hot and winners of four straight games, the only thing that managed to slow down Milpitas baseball team over past few weeks was the schedule.
Riding a four-game winning streak—all four games came in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division play—Milpitas catapulted into the mini-vacation after scoring 28 runs during the stretch of games against Lynbrook and Fremont High-Sunnyvale.

The Trojans will play at Pioneer High on Saturday in a non-league affair.
While the baseball team only was off the field for a nine-day gap, the Milpitas softball squad is in the midst of a 18-day hiatus.
Unlike the boys, the softball team entered the break on a mini-slide.
Milpitas fell to league leader Gunn 6-1 before dropping a second league tilt to Los Altos two days later.
Now 4-2 in El Camino play, the Trojans trail first place Gunn by two games.
The break is welcomed one by the Trojans. Without a game until April 27, the team will use the extra week off to rest up and mend some nagging injuries.
Six games remain in the regular season, including a season ending showdown at Gunn that could decide the El Camino title.
