Donut-Spinning, Alleged DUI Driver Arrested

Milpitas Police nabbed the San Jose man earlier this month.

From the Milpitas Police Department: On August 11, 2017, at approximately 2:39 A.M., a Milpitas Police officer saw the driver of a white Lexus GS400 driving recklessly at the intersection of East Calaveras Blvd. and North Gadsden Drive. The driver was “spinning donuts” and immediately fled when the officer tried to stop it. The officer broadcasted the information about the driver and the car on the police radio, and additional officers coordinated a search for the car.

Officers tracked the car traveling southbound on Piedmont Road, westbound on Landess Avenue, northbound on Dempsey Road, and eastbound on Yosemite Drive. Another officer stopped the car on South Park Victoria Drive south of Yosemite Drive, and the driver, later identified as Luis Lopez, was arrested. Lopez was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for felony evasion, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving on a suspended license.
