GIRLS TENNIS: Milpitas Edges Homestead

Singles stars carry Trojans past Mustangs in key SCVAL El Camino road test on Thursday afternoon in Cupertino.

The Milpitas High girls tennis team defeated Homestead High 4-3 on Thursday at Homestead High in Cupertino. The win improved the Trojans record to 15-0 overall.

Milpitas swept the four singles matches en route to the road win. Christi Tain, Shuyang Ye and Kristen Buchanon led the charge yet again for the Trojans.

"Our singles No. 1 and No. 2 have been dominant all year," MHS head coach Dong Pham said. "Our doubles play needs a lot of work. The girls don't look confident out there right now."

Milpitas has three matches left in the regular season before the start of the playoffs and CCS.

"Hopefully we dominate our last three matches and finish 18-0," Pham said. "I plan to work with the doubles teams a lot in practice. We have to get better before CCS."
