I-880 Crash Near Hayward Snarls Traffic: Updated

All lanes are now open after a rollover crash this morning involving a big-rig and at least two other vehicles on Interstate Highway 880.

UPDATE 10:05AM-

At 10:05 a.m., all lanes of I-880 have reopened in both directions. The A Street onramp to southbound I-880 is closed as crews continue to unload the contents of the big-rig.

At 7:59 a.m., the CHP announced all northbound lanes of I-880 have now opened. Lanes 1,2 and 3 southbound remain closed.

UPDATE 7:21AM-

At 7:21 a.m., the California Highway Patrol estimated northbound lanes 1 and 2 would remain closed for one hour. There was no estimate on when southbound lanes 1, 2 and 3 would open.

HAYWARD - A rollover crash this morning involving a big-rig and at least two other vehicles is causing havoc on Interstate Highway 880 in Hayward.

The California Highway patrol is reporting two southbound and two northbound lanes of Interstate Highway 880 at A Street remain closed as crews work to clear the scene.

The crash occurred around 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway.

A Sig-alert has been issued due to the crash.

The big-rig was carrying bottles of wine, and it may take several more hours to offload the wine by hand before the trailer can be removed from the scene, according to the CHP.

The CHP is reporting it will still likely be several hours before the scene is cleared.
