MILPITAS, CA — An inmate was caught attempting to escape from Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas on Sunday, a Santa Clara County sheriff's spokesman said.

A deputy watching security video cameras recently installed at the facility located at 701 S. Abel St. saw the inmate climb up and fall from a fence that surrounds the jail, sheriff's Sgt. James Jensen said.
