Man Arrested In Alleged Milpitas Road Rage Attack

Police say the incident started with a morning rush hour collision.

MILPITAS, CA — Milpitas Police arrested a man for alleged assault and vandalism in an incident they're calling road rage. Anthony Gerald Silva, 50, of Tracy, is accused of using a hammer to smash out the windows of a Nissan Sentra. He then punched the driver of the car several times, according to Milpitas Police Sgt. Joseph Heylen

The attack happened on Monday, April 17, at 7:53 a.m.

Heylen says the incident began with a traffic collision between Silva's 2004 GMC Sierra and the Nissan in the area of East Calaveras Boulevard and North Hillview Drive near Interstate 680. After the collision, both cars were stopped in traffic on the westbound side of the Calaveras overpass near North Abel Street. That's when Silva got out of his truck and attacked the driver and smashed the car windows, Heylen reports.
