Man Killed In Highway 101 Accident In San Jose Is Identified

A man fatally struck by a pickup truck Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose was identified Monday.

SAN JOSE - A man fatally struck by a pickup truck Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose was identified Monday by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as 60-year-old Ramon Navarro.

Navarro, a Daly City resident, was killed in a collision reported at 4:14 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, just north of Alum Rock Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Navarro was driving a Mazda MPV minivan when he heard an unfamiliar sound and parked on the side of the highway to investigate it, according to the CHP.

As he stood on the left side of the van, Navarro was hit by a Ford Ranger that veered to the right for unknown reasons.

No was else suffered injuries in the collision.

The incident is still being investigated.
