Milpitas Man, 20, Killed In Saturday Crash

CHP said he was walking on I-280 near Highway 101 when struck by two cars.

A 20-year-old Milpitas man was killed when two cars collided with him on northbound Interstate Highway 280 in San Jose Saturday night, California Highway Patrol officers said.

Officers responded at 11:10 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian in the roadway in the northbound lanes of Highway 280, north of U.S. Highway 101, CHP officers said.

Medical personnel found the Milpitas man dead in a northbound lane. Two cars, a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2003 Honda Accord, were stopped on the shoulder just north of the scene, according to CHP. CHP officers said the drivers of the two vehicles, which collided with the man, stayed at the scene and are cooperating with investigators.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision, CHP officers said. The two drivers were not injured, according to CHP.

CHP officers said it’s unclear why the man was walking in the roadway and investigators are awaiting toxicology results to determine whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
