Milpitas Police Arrest Man, Cite Another For Drugs, Paraphenalia
Police find Xanax, Ziploc bags, a digital scale and more during a traffic stop.

MILPITAS, CA - A man was arrested and another cited Monday in Milpitas following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of a controlled substance in their vehicle.
Joseph Anthony Bettencourt, 32, of Fremont, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Daniel Allen Camello, 32, of Fremont, was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Monday at 12:39 a.m., a Milpitas Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Honda Civic in the 1000 block of McCarthy Boulevard for a vehicle code violation.The officer contacted the driver, identified as Bettencourt and the passenger, identified as Camello, and discovered Camello was on active
probation from Alameda County and was in possession of a glass narcotic smoking pipe, police said.
During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a backpack belonging to Bettencourt that contained 36 Xanax tablets, multiple Ziploc bags and a digital scale, police said. Police said Bettencourt did not have a prescription for Xanax.
