Milpitas Police Hold Promotion Ceremony
The promotion ceremony honored two new lieutenants, one new captain and one new sergeant.

MILPITAS, CA — The Milpitas Police Department held a promotional badge pinning ceremony Tuesday for Capt. Henry Kwong, Lt. Jared Hernandez, Lt. John Torrez, and Sgt. Steven Fox. All are supervisory positions.
They have been in their new positions for a few months, but the ceremony was delayed until the handmade badges arrived.
According to a printed statement from Lt. Torrez, "When an officer is hired with the Milpitas Police Department they receive a unique three digit badge number which is sequential from the start of the department issuing badge numbers. The badge number an officer receives upon being hired stays with them for the duration of their career regardless of rank, with the exception of the Chief of Police whose badge number is "1." These badges are handmade by the manufacturer and take some time to complete, hence the delay between a promotion and the badge pinning."
