Mipitas Police Arrest Suspected ID Thief

Police arrested Eugene Mitchell, San Jose, at a Milpitas business.

MILPITAS, CA — A man suspected of identity theft was arrested at a hotel in Milpitas earlier this month, according to police.

Police said officers responded to the Extended Stay America located at 1000 Hillview Court on Aug. 10 at 2:44 p.m. on reports of a person checking into a hotel room using an alleged stolen credit card.

Officers arrived and were able to contact the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Eugene Mitchell of San Jose, in his hotel room.

According to police, during a search of the room officers located what appeared to be methamphetamine and a ledger containing credit card numbers and biographical information for several individuals.

Mitchell was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of fraud, identity theft, and narcotics related charges.
