Motorcyclist Killed on Hwy 880 ID'd as Isiah Avalos

Avalos was killed in a three-car crash during the Tuesday morning.

A motorcyclist struck and killed on Interstate Highway 880 in Milpitas during the Tuesday morning commute was identified today as 22-year-old Isiah Avalos of San Lorenzo, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

Around 8:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcyclist on southbound Highway 880 south of Dixon Landing Road, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Arriving officers the motorcyclist, later identified as Avalos, down from the vehicle and emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the CHP.

It appears Avalos collided with a Toyota Tacoma that changed lanes and fell off the motorcycle, which crashed into a Toyota Camry, CHP officials said.

The drivers of both cars stayed at the scene, according to the CHP. The Toyota Tacoma driver was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, CHP officials said.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to the CHP. Two southbound lanes were closed for about three-and-a-half hours after the collision, CHP officials said.
