Milpitas Police Shoot 27-Year-Old Man Near I-680

Police shot a 27-year-old San Jose man early this morning outside a hotel in Milpitas.

MILPITAS - Police shot a 27-year-old San Jose man early this morning outside a hotel in Milpitas.

The incident started at 12:51 a.m. at the Executive Inn at 95 Dempsey Road which is next to Interstate Highway 680, police Sgt. Frank Morales said.

The officer pulled the suspect over as he was driving in the area. The suspect ran from the vehicle across East Calaveras Boulevard until officers arrested him on a northbound Highway 680 transition ramp.

At some point during the encounter, the officer shot the suspect.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Morales could not say how many gunshot wounds the suspect suffered, what the man's condition is or why the officer stopped the man.

The officer was uninjured.

One lane of East Calaveras Boulevard is closed as police collect evidence, Morales said.

MILPITAS - An officer-involved shooting in a Milpitas hotel parking lot is being reported by a Bay Area TV news station.

According to KRON4, Calaveras from N. Park Victoria to I-680 in the westbound direction is still closed due to police activity.

NBC Bay Area tweeted this is Milpitas' first officer-involved shooting this year.
