Pair Arrested In Milpitas With Vehicle Stolen From Santa Clara

Police arrested two people Wednesday after officers found them entering a stolen vehicle parked inside a Milpitas Wal-Mart parking lot.

MILPITAS - Police arrested two people Wednesday after officers found them entering a stolen vehicle parked inside a Milpitas Wal-Mart parking lot.

Around 5 a.m., an officer observed a silver 2016 Ford Explorer parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot, located at 301 Ranch Drive, according to police.

After checking the license plate on the SUV, the officer determined the vehicle has been reported stolen from Santa Clara, police said.

Additional officers responded to the area to conduct surveillance on the vehicle.

During the investigation, officer saw a woman and a man walk up to the vehicle and open the driver's side door, according to police.

Officers contacted the pair, identified as 30-year-old Deborah Crede of San Jose and 44-year-old Jeff Phillips of San Francisco. After detaining them, officers found keys to the Ford as well as 10 grams of methamphetamine in Crede's possession, police said.

Officers arrested both Crede and Phillips on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle. Additionally, Crede was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, according to police.

The pair was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
