Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Crash ID'd as Michael Anthony Albert

Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

A man struck and killed by a car in Milpitas early Friday morning has been identified as Michael Anthony Albert, a 26-year-old San Jose resident, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian on northbound North Milpitas Boulevard at Berylwood Lane around 5:45 a.m. Friday, police said.

Arriving officers found the pedestrian, later identified as Albert, injured on the roadway. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the black Land Rover SUV involved in the collision remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

An Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District bus was nearby at the time and police have obtained video surveillance footage, which Hernandez said will be a “key factor” in the investigation.
