Photos: Tidal Waves Swim-A-Thon

The fundraiser last Friday brought in $2,000 for pool equipment and other necessities.

 

The city's competitive swim team Tidal Waves held a Swim-A-Thon on August 19 at the . 

About 45 swimmers, ranging from ages 7 to 18 years, collected pledges for the event. During the Swim-A-Thon, each swimmer had a two-hour maximum window to complete 200 laps. The fastest kids aced 200 laps (about 3 miles) with time to spare.

We haven't seen the last of the city's competitive swim team Tidal Waves. The program was spared from the chopping block in the 2011-12 city budget after Milpitas officials opted to eliminate a staff position and raise the monthly participation fees instead.

However, the season is ending. The last swim meet is September 3 in Morgan Hill.
