Santa Clara Co. Youth Mentor Accused of Sexually Assaulting Boy, 17

The suspect was a facilitator at San Jose-based nonprofit Unity Care Group, which works with at-risk and foster youth and their families.

A 45-year-old mentor for an organization that works with at-risk youth was arrested in the alleged sexual assault of a teenage boy in Morgan Hill earlier this month, police said.

The suspect was identified as Patrick Dauphin, a facilitator at San Jose-based nonprofit Unity Care Group, which works with at-risk and foster youth and their families, police and organization officials said.

Unity Care has worked with Santa Clara County’s probation, family and children’s services and behavioral health departments, according to police.

On Nov. 20, officers responded to a report of a sexual assault with a 17-year-old boy and upon further investigation determined Dauphin was a suspect, police said.

Dauphin was terminated from his job at the organization last Tuesday for violating the group’s professional boundaries policy, according to a statement from Unity Care.
