Suspect With $1 Million Arrest Warrant Captured in Milpitas

MILPITAS, CA — Police arrested a 28-year-old Los Banos man suspected of crashing a stolen vehicle and fleeing the scene last week in Milpitas.
Officers responded to the vicinity of Montague Expressway near East Capitol Avenue at 10:18 a.m. Nov. 9 on report of a hit and run.
On scene they found a 1998 Honda Passport, later determined to have been stolen, that had crashed into the center island under a light-rail track.

The engine was running and burglary tools were found inside, but there were no keys in the ignition. The suspect, identified as Robert Martinez, was found hiding in the bushes near the TownePlace Suites by the Great Mall of the Bay Area.
Martinez had an outstanding $1 million arrest warrant for domestic violence as well as a no-bail warrant for violating the terms of his probation.

He was arrested on the outstanding warrants as well as on suspicion of vehicle theft, hit and run, possession of burglary tools and driving on a suspended license.
