The smash and grab happened on Jacklin Road.

MILPITAS, CA — Two San Jose residents have been arrested for a Milpitas auto burglary and unauthorized use of a credit card stolen from the victim, Milpitas Police Lt. Raj Maharaj said in a statement.

The auto burglary happened last September at Foothill Square in the 400 block of Jacklin Road. The suspects broke the window of the vehicle and stole the victim's wallet. The next day the victim's credit cards were used at Target in San Jose, according to Maharaj.

Milpitas Police Detectives identified the suspects, Marie Rose Valdez and John Jasso Santos, Jr., based on the evidence left at the scene and Target surveillance video.

According to Maharaj, "The Milpitas Police Department does not recommend leaving purses, backpacks, laptop bags, luggage, or any other items of value in plain sight in your vehicles. It is recommended you take your valuables with you and not leave it in the vehicle or lock them in the trunk prior to entering the parking lot."
