Two Separate Accidents Blocked I-880 in Milpitas Tuesday Night

Multiple vehicles involved.

Officers responded to a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles on northbound Highway 880 north of state Highway 237 around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday night, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Arriving officers learned two separate accidents occurred in the area, CHP Officer Damian Cistaro said.

The first was a car crash that resulted in no injuries, he said.

The second was a five-car collision that left one person with minor injuries, Cistaro said.

The injured person was transported to Kaiser Permanente Fremont Medical Center for treatment, he said. Initial reports had indicated seven or eight vehicles were involved, according to Cistaro.

Initial reports also showed three people complained of pain, but Cistaro had no further details.

A Sig-alert was issued at 9:23 p.m. closing all northbound lanes, CHP officials said.

The far right lane reopened about 15 minutes later and the remaining three lanes reopened by about 10:15 p.m., according to the CHP.
