The crash survivor suffered amputation of both legs, third and second-degree burns, and broken bones after the Newport Beach collision.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Jackson Gutierrez knows that he is lucky to be alive after a crash in Newport Beach two years ago. This week, he returned to thank the doctors and nurses who saved his life at Mission Viejo's Providence Mission Hospital.
His recovery was long after suffering a traumatic brain injury, requiring the amputation of both legs above the knee, and suffering massive burns in the crash, according to an NBC LA report.
The car was on fire when emergency responders arrived to find him, he told reporters of the Dec. 2021 crash on Newport Coast Drive.
