Orphaned Raccoon Siblings Reunited In Mission Viejo
A small litter of raccoon siblings without their mother were reunited in Mission Viejo, thanks to the city's Animal Services Center.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A small litter of raccoon siblings was reunited in Mission Viejo this week, thanks to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.
The news came after MVAS received a call from a concerned resident reporting two baby raccoons — also known as kits — at El Dorado Park.
MVAS Officer Rodriguez arrived at the scene and found two 7-week-old raccoon kits near the school in the middle of the day, with no sign of their mother.

Officer Rodriguez swiftly responded and moved the kits to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center to ensure their safety.
At night, Officer Rodriguez returned the babies to the park in hopes that their mother would be drawn out by the cries of her babies.

Sadly, the mother did not appear. However, the next morning, MVAS received a call regarding two additional baby raccoons hiding behind a barbecue at a residential property near the park.
"This situation made it evident that something had happened to the mother, and the kits were now orphaned," Mission Viejo Spokeswoman Kelly Tokarski told Patch.
Astonishingly, upon reuniting the raccoon kits, it became clear that all of the babies were siblings.
"Their almost immediate closeness and snuggling affirmed their bond," Tokarski said.
The raccoon kits will continue to grow at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center, and once they are old enough to fend for themselves, they will be released back into their natural habitat in Mission Viejo.
