Probationer Caught In Car Smash And Grab In Mission Viejo: Cops
An alert resident noticed a suspicious person pacing around a car at a Laguna Hills Gym.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA —The Orange County Sheriff's Department reminds residents always to report suspicious behavior when they see it. One resident couldn't believe what he saw outside his local gym.
On Saturday a witness who remained nameless noticed a stranger all too interested in his wife's car, Mission Viejo Police Services Lt. Quyen Vuong reported over social media.
After watching the man pace around the witness's family car, the suspect smashed the window, reached inside and allegedly stole a purse, Vuong said.

911 was called, and police arrived, located and detained the suspect, who was identified by the witness.
Officers discovered he had numerous drivers' licenses from across nearby cities, credit cards and a stolen handicap placard, police said.

"He also had drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession," they said. "Big thanks to the alert citizen who called in this suspicious activity. Together, we are keeping our city safe."
The suspect, Cory Riddle, 30, was arrested on charges of possession of receiving stolen property, possession of controlled substances, Officer Joses Walehwa of Orange County Sheriff's Department told Patch. He was expected in court on Tuesday.
