Clark Magnet Teacher Named Educator of the Year

Judith Craemer is an art and technology teacher, volunteer and artist.

Judith Craemer, who has been teaching art for over a decade at , has been named Educator of the Year for Los Angeles, Ventura and San Luis Obispo Counties by the California League of High Schools/Middle Schools.

Craemer said she feels very humbled and blessed by the honor.

“It doesn’t happen in a vacuum,” said Craemer. “It happens with a synergy of all sorts of people who are of equal caliber all working together as a team throughout the districts.”

But, the honor doesn’t stop there. Craemer was also selected as an Educator of the Year finalist for the state of California.

“I know many people could sit in my shoes very deservedly,” said Craemer. “I don’t feel like it is something that’s mine alone.”

In addition to teaching, Craemer volunteers her graphic design skills to Clark Magnet and enjoys art as a hobby. Her favorite mediums are watercolors and oils, though she seems to be constantly looking to master new forms.

“I just bought some marquetry supplies to do some inlaid woodwork for my own fun,” said Craemer. “It’s a family tradition and I want to start taking that up, brand new.”

Educator of the Year results will be announced at the CLHS conference in Sacramento, February 25-27, 2011.
