Comments of the Week: Gadflies, Parking Ban and Rosemont Stars
Do gadflies have their place, should there be a parking ban, and kudos to Rosemont newsmakers.
At Patch, we believe that news is a conversation.
Here are some of the things that readers have been saying over the past week (some comments and letters have been edited for grammar and length):

In reality watchdog groups wouldn't be necessary if citizens themselves stood up and asked the hard questions. We are lucky in Glendale that some do.

Yes, we need citizen involvement in government, but most of these "well established" gadflies get a heady dose of attention when they have the floor and it can be very addictive.

They should add Verdugo Bl between Verdugo Rd and Verdugo Hills Hospital to the list. Instead of making it illegal to park at these places, they should be metered. If someone wants to park a car there for sale let them pay the privilege of $5 a day to do it. Residents can get low cost permits similar to the program run near the college and downtown.

My son is graduating from Rosemont tomorrow, but I hope that by the time my 3 yr. old girl attends, this class will still be offered!

I think it's fabulous these kids have such a great opportunity to develop their skills, and then to have a forum to show what they can do makes it all the better. Go Rosemont!

I would add: don't ride tandem! If you need to speak with the person you're riding with, pull over. Especially on La Tuna Canyon.

These kids are incredible! Bands like Sublime and Slightly Stoopid need to keep their eyes on these guys!
-Rachel
I go to school with these guys and they are not only talented but really sweet!
