Comments of the Week: Thoughts on Gun Laws, Drayman, Oceaview Bistro and more.
Has the Drayman coverage gone too far, will released prisoners affect our neighborhood, and the popularity of Oceanview Bistro.

At Patch, we believe that news is a conversation.
Here are some of the things that readers have been saying over the past week (some comments and letters have been edited for grammar and length):

I fail to see how this private matter comes off as newsworthy. It must have been a slow news day.

I'm incredibly sad to see it, but John directly lied about the amount he owed during the campaign, and the debt was incurred at the same time he was representing the public interest in dealings with the contractor. It's absolutely fair game.

John Drayman, during the [Glendale City] Council campaign, outed another candidate. There was absolutely no reason for this move. The gay rights community are a very strong group politically speaking. It would be interesting to know the true genesis of the current problems. If John is guilty, then whatever penalties shoud be born by Drayman.

Absolutely support open carry. Open carry (loaded) makes more sense than the current concealed carry requirements.... Carrying concealed does not, in any way, distinguish me from any other unarmed person. Open carry says "I am NOT a good choice" for a mugging, rape or robbery.

Great food and service. Give them a shot next time you go out and support local businesses.

I think it's about time! The prison conditions and attitudes of prison staff are not conducive to the American standard and should never have been in the first place…I agree with Hunt in that it is nothing for the public to be afraid of. Approximately 10,000 prisoners are released each month due to fulfilling their commitment and we aren't aware of their presence back on the streets. Another 40,000 over a 2 year period is nothing in comparison.

Gee, $500K for a two bedroom fixer upper with a view of the 210 freeway. You think that MIGHT be pushing young families out? I could see one of the elementary schools closing by 2015.
