Comments of the Week: Thoughts on Rapture, Drayman and Kindergarten

Is Drayman's rep ruined, is kindergarten too pricey and what's the deal with the Rapture?

At Patch, we believe that news is a conversation.

Here are some of the things that readers have been saying over the past week (some comments and letters have been edited for grammar and length):

Allegedly? and he is not arrested? Let's hope it is true now that I have seen this posted in so many places. What if they are wrong? Too late for his reputation then... ugh.

My only question is who is this "unnamed source" who claims John embezzled? Is this yet another smear campaign?

None of this search would have been necessary if there was cell phone reception in the ranges behind Mt. Wilson (and assuming both hikers had cell phones). The Mt. Wilson signals only cover the front range, not the back, and when I recently drove down from Buckhorn, there was no signal at all until Sunland... I know a lot of people are against cell phones in the forest, but the occasional chattering person is much less intrusive than the noise of the Harleys and Suzukis that ride along the Highway.

This is just one of the times I've appreciated the Patch. Having breaking news for our small community is new and very welcome.

No doubt...With tuition of $180 a month no surprise that enrollment is low. And besides who has ever heard of a tuition to be paid for a public school! This is ridiculous! Either drop the fee or make it like our lunches fee where you have to be qualified for the certain amounts, you are making it impossible for parents to start thier children into school with this fee being so high.

The year before the Station Fire, I was finishing a bike ride behind JPL and ran into a family pushing a shopping cart full of food and BBQ supplies (including charcoal) just past the gate on Windsor and Ventura... yeah, right past the fire hazard sign which was pegged at "extreme."

I told them I'd call the cops... they acted dumb and left.

I was a little concerned when I saw the smoke rise over the hills but was glad to see they were on it this time. Good job L.A. County Fire.

There were over 100 comments on . Here is a small sampling of comments from people with different viewpoints:

So where is the Rapture? 10:31 p.m. on the 22nd of May and no earthquakes to be heard of... I believe we are in the end of days with all the disasters that [are] happening but I also believe things like that have been happening for hundreds of years...  truth is no one knows.

I really wish people would stop trying to predict the end of the world. We're told time and time again that if it does happen no one will know the date and time.

Harold Camping did not fail! He got it wrong in that he said it would this week. It shall happen within 'next' week, when Jesus will come.

...[they] said the same about Y2K and look at what happened there...

I don’t claim to be a know it all, but I have learned from the begining that you shouldn’t take your preacher's... word about what the Bible says, but read and study it for yourself.

Daryl Collins, comment on article

People have been predicting the end of the world since the beginning, people from every religion and scientific persausion. If they stop predicting the end that's probably the time to worry.
