Crescenta Valley HS to Host Own Graduation Ceremony

Ceremony would be the first the school will host since its founding.

Since 1963, Crescenta Valley High School has used a nearby park to celebrate graduating seniors and hand them their diplomas, but that's all about to change.

For the first time in 50 years, Crescenta Valley HS will hold graduation ceremonies on its own field, an event a Glendale Unified asst. superintendent calls "historic."

Stengel Field was used from 1963 to 2011 in order to accommodate droves of family and friends attending the ceremonies. Glendale Community College was the site of choice in 2012 due to the concerns of officials over the structural integrity of the bleachers at Stengel, officials said.

Glendale's finals week would happen at the same time as Crescenta Valley's graduation ceremonies, a scenario officials said would not be appropriate.
