FACULTY JPL EXTERNSHIPS TOPIC OF SCIENCE LECTURE

“GCC Faculty Share Insights from their JPL Externships” is a lecture to be
given at Glendale Community College on Tuesday, Sept. 23 as part of the Science
Lecture Series.
The lecture will be held at 12:20 p.m. in Cimmarusti Science Center room 177.
It is free and open to the public.
The speakers are media arts instructor Ryun Hovind, geology instructor Shelley
Shaul-Regalado and math instructor Tuyetdong Phan-Yamada. Each will discuss the
projects they worked on at JPL. Hovind created new media content for JPL’s Global
Climate Change website. Shaul-Regalado worked on a project involving the history of
the L.A. River. Phan-Yamada conducted an analysis of a high-dimensional model of
SAR signal coherence in GeoGebra.
