Fire Damaged Abandoned Building at L.A. County's Camp Louis Roth in the Big Tujunga Wash
For a time, the fire threatened the nearby brush, but firefighters were able to contain the fire to the building, fire officials said.

TUJUNGA, CA — Firefighters knocked down a fire Sunday that burned an abandoned building at L.A. County's Camp Louis Roth in the Big Tujunga Wash in the Angeles National Forest near Tujunga that initially threatened brush near the building, according to authorities.
The fire broke out in an empty building located near 12500 N. Big Tujunga Canyon Rd. about 8:30 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
The blaze was on county property, Stewart said.

"It was their dirt, so to speak. But we were on the scene first with a full brushfire response," Stewart said. Los Angeles city firefighters battled the flames in the two-story former dormitory and office that was already well-involved, Stewart said.
County fire resources then arrived at the scene and control of the fire scene was "transitioned" to the county, Stewart added.

"We ended up sending three engines and a battalion chief to the scene and the city sent a similar response," said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.
A knockdown was declared at 9:18 p.m., Pittman said.
No brush was involved in the fire, he added. Firefighters managed to keep the flames confined to the building, according to Pittman.
No injuries were reported.
