Marek Fire in Tujunga Charred 50 Acres; 50 Percent Contained

BREAKING: No structures were threatened and three water-dropping helicopters were dispatched to the scene.

TUJUNGA, CA -- The Marek Fire burned about 50 acres of brush Monday in the Angeles National Forest near Tujunga, but no structures were threatened.

The blaze was reported about 5:20 a.m. in the13000 block of Little Tujunga Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The fire was listed as 50 percent contained after about four hours, according to the Angeles National Forest's Arcadia office.

Los Angeles city and county firefighters were assisting Angeles National Forest firefighters in the effort to extinguish the flames. Three water-dropping helicopters were dispatched to the scene.
