On Thursday May 19, 2011, business owners and golfers from the neighborhood participated in the Montrose Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce's 15th Annual Par 3 Masters Fundraiser at the Verdugo Hills Golf Course. MVCCC Director Joe Allen, who is also a Glendale Police Officer, organized the event, which turned out to be a smashing success. Attendance doubled this year compared with last year, and more money was raised, said Allen. Donations went to support the event and to honor five students with college scholarships: Savannah Rhoads, Brett Cruz, Leah Iverson, Kate Redmond and Helene Cook. They were chosen because of their outstanding involvement in the community and volunteer efforts.
