Saturday, October 24th - Rosemont Preserve Guided Walk: Medicinal Plants of the Rosemont Preserve
Come explore our own community nature preserve.
Please join us on October 24th from 9:00am - 11:00am for another in our series of guided tours. Our local hills and our native gardens offer an assortment of plants that have value for their medicinal properties and material uses. The Arroyo Seco Foundation’s Hahamongna Nursery Manager Nicholas Hummingbird will help you to identify native plants commonly found in the Los Angeles Basin that can be harvested and put to use in your daily life.
Nick is a native plant activist and conservationist who has worked extensively on ecological restoration projects with Channel Islands National Park, Channel Islands restoration, Wishtoyo Foundation’s Chumash village in Malibu and several other organizations. As an indigenous Californian, culture has played a huge role for Nick in protecting and restoring his ancestral home, as well as empowering all those who now call this place home.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park. Please bring water, a hat and wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail. Native plants will be available for sale after the tour.
