Celebrate Independence Day Early in Moorpark

A fireworks display will cap off a day of fun and family-friendly entertainment at Arroyo Vista Community Park.

The skies over Moorpark will light up a day early to celebrate Independence Day.

The city's annual Fireworks Extravaganza will take place tomorrow, July 3rd, as usual. The spectacular all-aerial fireworks display will be the grand finale to a fun-filled day of celebration at .

Family friendly entertainment will be presented throughout the afternoon and evening. This year’s musical entertainment will kick off with the Mark Cross Band, playing from 5 to 6:30 p.m. This talented group will play a variety of original songs.

For the feature act, Raymond Michael brings his celebrated “Elvis” tribute show to this year's event. Raymond Michael has performed all over the United States and has been featured on television specials, videos and commercials. Raymond takes the stage at 7:30 p.m.

This year's event is also extra special for a unique reason. "All the featured performers are from Moorpark," said Stephanie Anderson, a recreation superintendent with the city.

During the intermission between the two featured bands, there will be a presentation of the American flag by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

Aside from the homegrown entertainment, there will be plenty of exciting activities for the entire family.

Patriotic prizes will also be awarded at fun family games such as gunny sack races and tug-o-war.

Special attractions also include bounce tents, obstacle courses, slides, climbing walls, carnival games and more.

For those not planning to bring their own picnics, three food courts will offer great eats such as tri-tip, chicken, hot dogs, funnel cake, kettle corn, shave ice, nachos and ice cream.

Seating for the event is on grass, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs. For everyone’s safety, no alcohol, dogs or other pets (except service animals for the disabled), smoking and fireworks are permitted anywhere on the event site.
