An information and rally night for the Conejo Valley YMCA’s Sequoia Lake resident camp will be held Friday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Y (4031 N. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks). Kids entering grades third through 12 in the fall are eligible to attend the camp. Camp dates are August 1 through August 8.

Camp Sequoia Lake is located next to Sequoia National Park in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The information night is for potential campers and their parents to learn about camp life and camper responsibilities.

Campers will experience high and low rope courses, a climbing wall, adventure courses, canoeing, fishing, lake swimming, archery, rock climbing, astronomy and arts and crafts. In addition, campers will take part in traditional YMCA camp activities--campfires, dances, slideshows and the Y’s rag and leather motivational and rewards program.

“A week at YMCA camp is something kids will remember and talk about the rest of their lives,” says Zak Howell, the Y’s Away Camp and Youth & Government director. “Besides having fun, campers develop such important skills as teamwork, honesty and communication.”

The cost of the camp is $670, which includes transportation, all program activities and meals. For more information, contact Zak Howell at 805-523-7613, zak.howell@conejoymca.org. To register for camp, go to www.conejoycamp.com.
