Moorpark Girls Take Top Spots in Dance Competiton
These local girls can dance and they showed it.

Dancers from studio in Moorpark placed in the top three at the recently-concluded Co Dance Competition/Convention in Los Angeles.
Twenty-three dance studios around California participated. Emmy award-winning choreographer Tyce Diorio, best known for his stint in the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance was one of the judges.

"Diorio was impressed with Rossi’s students, who placed first in the Senior Division for their dance “So It Is” choreographed by Rachel Dubusky. The dancers include: Tyler Watkins, Dominique Valery, Emily Sutton and Elizabeth Sutton all from Moorpark High School, Alie Valery from Chaparral Middle School, Courtney Scarr from Simi Valley High School and Michelle Peters from Thousand Oaks High School."
The Dance Ten dancers also took second and third places in the junior division. Those students included Moorpark girls Jared Cardiel,Madison Yasenchok, Hannah Yasenchok, Helena Ordin, Alison Vartanian, Cara Cavarretta, Isabella Real, Carly Sutton and Camille Polk, Kaila Kawasaki, Alyssa Jan, Sophia Damiani from Simi Valley.

Three of Rossi’s dancers, Hannah Yasenchok, Tyler Watkins and Elizabeth Sutton were awarded convention scholarships for their talents and skills. Watkins was invited to a dance agency while Sutton received a special award to study in New York at the Broadway Dance Center.
In addition, the dancers were invited to perform their dance at the Teacher’s Faculty Show following the convention where they got the rare opportunity to be seen by top choreographers and judges.
