Free YMCA Membership in June for Active Military, Veterans

Active military, veterans and their families can sign up for a free June membership at three local YMCA branches.

Active military, veterans and their families can sign up for a free June membership at three of the branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. Participating facilities are the Conejo Valley YMCA, the Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park and the Simi Valley Family YMCA.

“We wanted to think of some way that the YMCA could show our appreciation to all of those who serve our country,” says Janice Wise, public relations and development director of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. “We know that military service is a commitment from the whole family so military families are able to use their neighborhood Y together.”

Activities available at the Y include group fitness classes, individual fitness coaching, free weights, cardio equipment, lap pools, yoga, warm water therapy pools, walking clubs and cycle clubs. Recently, the Y added a number of mindful living classes to help promote the healthy spirit, mind and body connection. “Programs like these are what make the Y such a special place,” says Wise. “We are honored to be able to do this for military families in our community.”
The free June membership is for individuals and families who are not current YMCA members. “We will be offering appreciation initiatives throughout the month of June for military families who are current YMCA members,” says Wise.
