Library Has Big Fun Scheduled for May

Check out the Big Truck, Big Read event on May 19.

Each month this year, the library is hosting one special event to celebrate its 100th anniversary. In May, it's the Big Truck, Big Read event where kids can get an up-close look at fire trucks, police cars, tow trucks and more. The event takes place May 19.

Here's a list of all the events for May:

May 2: Knit and Crochet Club—Learn how to make your own wearable knits from the experts, our friends in the Moorpark Active Adult Center’s Knitting Club. No experience necessary and supplies will be provided. The club meets at 5:30 May 2, 16 and 30.

May 5: 4 Paws Book Club—Paws 4 Healing provides a dog for your child to read to for 10-15 minutes. A free book will be given to each child compliments of a grant from Sage Publications along with a sticker and bookmark for their participation.Ā  Sign up the day of on a first-come first-served basis and no child will be turned away. The program runs from 1:30-3 p.m.

May 6: Book Club for Adults: This month, the club will discuss This Book is Overdue by Marilyn Johnson. Copies are available at the library. The group meets at 2 p.m.

May 8: Little Bilingual Readers—At 11 a.m., join Karina from First 5 and Mrs. T. for songs and stories in Spanish and English along with crafts and games.Ā  This program is for families with children ages 2-4 years old. This program repeats on May 15.

May 9: Family Storytime—Come and listen to stories, sing songs and enjoy a craft with Mrs. T. and Booker, the puppet dog mascot at 10:30 a.m.Ā  This weekly program is for you and your child to enjoy children’s literature and spend time with other families. This program repeats on all Wednesdays.

May 9:Wii Gaming for Teens—Come play the best and latest for an extraordinary open gaming experience at 4 p.m.

May 10:Teen Volunteer Meeting—Assistance is needed for library tasks and children’s programs.Ā  Come and earn your community service hours for graduation here. The meeting begins at 4 p.m.

May 11: Guy Gaming—Bring your friends to play board, card and Wii games at 1:30 p.m.
