Moorpark Chabad Celebrates Purim
The Jewish holiday observance included food, costumes and the reading of the Magillah, or the Book of Esther.
The Moorpark Chabad Jewish Center was a lively place Wednesday evening as congregants gathered in costume, shared food and drink and children made crafts as part of the center's observance.
Purim is a joyful holiday that celebrates the story of how the Jewish people escaped annihilation during the reign of King Achashverosh.
As fun and joyous as Purim is, especially for children, it isn't neccesarily their favorite holidayāor so said 13-year-old Anthony Valdez, almost-13-year-old Alexander Sax and his 8-year old brother Evan, who were at the Chabad's celebration.

That title goes to Chanukah "because that's when you get all the presents," Anthony said.
"And because it's the festival of lights . . . well, and the presents," Alexander agreed.
