Moorpark's 5 Things to Know Today: July 13

Cool off on this fabulous Friday with a free drink, a free movie or a trip to the farmers market.

  1. Cool off with a refreshing drink today. Starbucks will be giving away Refreshers, its new handcrafted drink, in two flavors: Cool Lime and Very Berry Hibiscus. Promo hours are from 12 to 3 p.m. The nearest Starbucks locations are at 561 New Los Angeles Ave., 6595 Collins Dr. and 4241 Tierra Rejada Rd.
  2. After getting your energy drink, head over to the Apricot Room of the Moorpark Civic Center and watch "Treasure Buddies" (rated G) at 2 p.m. This family event is for free. 
  3. Head to the  today from 3 to 7 p.m. for the freshest produce, flowers, gourmet items and other interesting finds.
  4. The Ventura County Fire Department has intermittent  till July 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in an area of brush in Happy Camp Canyon adjacent to Rustic Canyons Golf Course. 
  5. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high of 83 degrees and a low of 57 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
