1. The Ventura County Stand Down is ongoing until today, at the California Army National Guard Armory in Ventura. The  will give homeless veterans access to shower facilities, hot meals, medical treatment and legal services.
2. The Readers' Choice nomination period is closed. Voting will begin tomorrow. Stay tuned and vote for your favorite businesses!
3. The Ventura County Fire Department has intermittent live fire training exercises till July 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in an area of brush in Happy Camp Canyon adjacent to Rustic Canyons Golf Course.
4. Start planning for . A 10-mile stretch of the 405 will be closed on Sept. 29-30.
5. It will be sunny with a high near 88 and a low around 60, according to the National Weather Service.
