Scene in Moorpark: Fields of Green

Its doubtful many people could have foreseen broccoli thrust into controversy, but it happened this week. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia compared it to health care in the Affordable Care Act hearings, asking whether the government could make people buy broccoli if it can make them buy health insurance.

Meanwhile here in Moorpark, too, the veggie is more complicated than just being a healthy food item. It's a means of income for farmers and farm workers. On Cesar Chavez Day, it seemed appropriate to post this photo of the people who work in the fields, helping to bring food to our tables.
