Simi Valley YMCA Hosts September 24 Campout/Y Guides Sign Ups

Those families interested in the Y Guides can come to a free Saturday, September 24 overnight campout at the Simi Y

Simi Valley parents and their children who are interested in participating in the Simi Valley Family YMCA Y Guides program, can take part in a free Saturday, September 24 overnight campout at the Simi Y (3200 Cochran St.). A pancake breakfast will be served the next morning to all overnight campers.

“YMCA Guides is an opportunity for parents and their elementary-aged children to bond through camping, arts and crafts, field trips and other activities,” says Mitch McManus, the Simi Y’s membership and marketing director. “Parents and children grow together by exploring and experiencing the world around them.”

Y Guide groups are made up of 7 to 10 parent/child pairs based on age, gender and neighborhood. Parent/child combinations are father and son, father and daughter, mother and son and mother and daughter. Meetings take place either biweekly or monthly at parents’ homes. The program is for children in kindergarten through third grade. Members take part in campouts, craft projects, hiking, games and character-building projects.
